Just a Little Thought

As the day dawned on me, I looked to the east and saw the rays of the sun just beginning to erupt from behind the hills. The morning clouds shimmered along the edges as the brightness of the sun grew in intensity holding a promise of a brighter day. We’ve just been through seemingly endless cycles of winds, storm and floods. So, this weather is so much of a welcome change!
It occurred to me that this is such a wonderful blessing. There are so many simple things that happen around us that, many times we fail to appreciate them. And I asked myself, “What do I do to deserve this blessing?” “What can I do in return to show my appreciation?” Then came an echo from way deep within my soul, “Be a little kinder!” A peaceful smile played upon my lips, and I said to myself, “We can always use a little more of that!” Truly, a little bit of kindness added to our daily lives will certainly not hurt. It may even make someone a little happier that day. So, let’s all try it. Amazingly, it will make you more lighthearted, peaceful and happy!
By the way, a few years ago, I founded an organization called “Society of Love and Kindness.” It is an organization joined by people of all walks of life. It is not a complicated organization with all sorts of rules. There are no fees involved, no meetings, and no other requirement but just to do one act of love or kindness everyday. No one will enforce adherence to this requirement. It is willingly done and delivered by the person himself or herself. Everybody is welcome. To join, click:

I’d like to share with you a photo of an 87-year-old man named Ted (photo shown above), who has been a long-time member of our society. Ted and I have been drawn together by our mutual love for animals—particularly, cats. Without fail, rain or shine, he would faithfully come to our yard to feed the cats, especially the homeless ones. And, at 7:00 a.m. promptly, I would see a few cats waiting for him by our gate. It’s amazing how they would come like clockwork, instinctively knowing the exact time of his coming. Moments later, I would see Ted, trudging along our uphill driveway, undaunted by the climb. He’s been doing this for the past seven years since I have known him and he has never missed a single day. On few occasions, I’d help him out, especially when he is sick. Through the years, his wife and I have gotten to know each other very well and we’ve shared our concerns. There’s never a doubt in my mind that the friendship we’ve built through the years, inspired by a common purpose built on love and kindness, will always be a source of comfort and faith in the goodness of the human heart.

I’m eager to have you join our family whose principles are cradled solely on love and kindness.
